About Me

Bachelor of Arts (Hons), Industrial Economics, University of Nottingham, UK
PGCE (Primary Education with Maths), St. Luke’s College, University of Exeter, UK
NPQH, National College for School Leadership, UK
Having qualified as a teacher in 1990, I spent three years teaching in Hemel Hempstead before an eight year stint working in international schools; four years at Unity High School, Khartoum, Sudan were followed by four more at The British Embassy Study Group, Ankara, Turkey. A management position, with responsibility for developing the ICT programme, at Ecclesall Junior School, Sheffield, brought me back to the UK and in 2007 I became deputy headteacher at Greenhill Primary School, also in Sheffield.

I am married with three children who all attend BIS, and who take up most of my spare time, although, when able to, I enjoy both watching and participating in a variety of sports particularly football and golf. I am passionate about learning and through research and reflection am constantly considering ways in which the education of our children can be improved.

During my first year in Vietnam I had many wonderful experiences with highlights being visits to Dalat, Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi, Halong Bay and Cuc Phuong National Park. I am certain that my family and I will have many more wonderful adventures whilst living in this beautiful and intriguing country.
