The night before school starts is full of thoughts about what lies ahead. 'What will my new teacher be like? Will I make new friends? What will we learning about this term?' This is especially true for children starting a new school. My son, joined the children from TX who moved to AP2 today; he had a mix of anticipation with anxiety when he was talking to me last night.
Putting on new shoes and a new uniform add to the excitement of the day, and at the gate this morning, eyes widened even larger as the new playground equipment came into view. The old 'Jungle Gym' needed replacement and a lot of time was spent finding a suitable replacement that met the stringent health and safety standards of the UK and provided challenge for our children.
Once inside, the F3 children entered the new unit. Over the summer part of the wall has been removed to allow a shared use of resources whilst allowing the two classes to be taught separately when required. This will help the children as they prepare for Mile Post 1 during Term 3.
When I saw my son after school today, he told me he had left something behind today. When I asked him what it was, he told be that it was all his worries. He is going to really enjoy his time at AP2 (as will our TX children) and the children I saw today were already learning new routines and beginning the journey of discovery for 2013-14.
