Using technology in the classroom has been a focus area for improvement at the whole of BIS for over a year now. The technology in itself does not make children cleverer however, used in the right way, it can help children question, find information, present information and reflect on their learning. Today I was in Mr Mike's classroom where the children in 4T were learning to recite poetry. In the past, this in itself would have been the learning objective, however the learning objective included, ' and evaluate their performance.' Instead of just reciting the poems, the children video themselves with the iPad and were able to immediately look to see if their words were clear and their actions matched the poem. Having videoed the whole the poem they then put the video clips together using iMovie. The class then evaluated each performance and gave suggestions how each could improved. Look out tomorrow on Mr Mike's blog where you will be able to see the final versions of the poems.
