Practical Maths in Year 5

Yesterday I went into Ms Kris' class and saw the children hard at work doing maths.  As I entered the next door class, I was surprised to see no children.  I headed up to the sports hall and found some children lying around the on the floor, while others had whiteboards in their hands.  They were doing maths!
Psychologists have shown that different people learn in different ways.  Approximately 20% of children learn by listening (auditory), 40% by seeing (visual) and 40% by doing (kinesthetic).  The children were working hard on their maths, just in a different way.  Ms Alice called out a time, the children on the floor had to make the analogue time and the children with the whiteboards made the digital time.
