Lockdown

Playtime was very quiet at TX today.  Normally at 10.10am on a Friday, there is a lot happening, but this morning the Jungle Gym and the playground were deserted.  It was the same in the corridors and the foyer; it appeared that the school had closed for the day.  This, of course, was not the case.

The playground was strangely quiet.
The safety and security of the children is our highest priority at the BIS and across the three campuses, 'Lockdown' procedures have been drawn up and are being implemented.  A 'lockdown' would be initiated if a situation arose that required staff and students to be isolated rather than evacuated (as in the case of a fire).  This might be due to extreme weather, a dangerous animal on the loose, an incident on the street outside school or an intruder gaining access to the school.
During the week the procedures were explained to the children and all members of staff, so at 10.10 this morning, when Ms Sue gave the signal to begin the 'lockdown' practice, everyone knew just what to do.  Doors were locked, blinds were closed and children and staff went to the places they had been told to go.
Well done to everyone for carrying out the drill safely and responsibly.

Even the office appeared deserted.
