At TX we have two teachers who have ICT in their job title; Ms Jocelyn and Mr Mike. Mr Mike is the ICT co-ordinator whereas Ms Jocelyn is the ICT Specialist teacher. Mr Mike's main focus is on how class teachers can use ICT in their day to day teaching. We have laptops, iPads and other pieces of technology and these can be used to enhance all areas of the curriculum and Mr Mike helps support teachers in this.
Of course, there is an overlap with Ms Jocelyn's role, but her focus is on giving the children the ICT skills which can then be applied in the class. In the lesson I saw today, the children were learning many ICT skills linking to the IPC topic they are studying. Having researched a series of facts about their chosen dinosaur, the children used Kidpix to draw it on the computer. The next step was to export their drawing as a jpeg file and insert it into Microsoft Word. Using Wordart, they named their dinosaur and then began putting the dinosaur facts around their drawing. In order to successfully complete this task, the children have had to learn or practise a huge number of ICT skills which can be transferred to the classroom for other projects.
Why are Hung smiling when Ms Jocelyn came ?
