Information Literacy Exit Points in Year 4 and Year 5

One of our campus priorities at TX this year has been to introduce Information Literacy as a subject.  This has been proven to be a great success; the inspectors who visited in March said, 'the implementation of an Information Literacy programme on the TX campus has had considerable positive impact on the curriculum.'  Information Literacy is all about the inquiry process; how we find and evaluate information, and then how we communicate that information to others.

This week two projects are coming to and end.  The Year 4 children have been learning about 'Habitats' in IPC.  This morning I was watching them practise the presentations they had prepared in groups.  The Year 5 children are preparing for the G9 Summit looking at issues relating to sustainability.
A great deal of work has gone into finding information relating to these two areas, and the children are looking forward to presenting what they have found out later this week.
Parents are most welcome to join Year 5 for the G9 Summit on Wednesday at 1.00pm and for the Year 4 afternoon of presentations and movie trailers on Thursday.  Please ask the class teachers for further details.
