If you ask adults in England what they remember about primary school, most of them will talk about one of two things. Either the residential trips they attended (I remember going camping in Year 6) and the productions they took part in (I played the part of the king in Rumplestiltskin). These activities come to form part of a child's character and I have talked about the benefits of residential trips in other blog posts. At TX, we have made productions an integral part of the curriculum because we firmly believe in the benefits of such events; confidence, independence, team work and speaking in front of an audience to name four.
Our performances at TX are of a very high standard and this takes time and practice (again good disciplines to have). This week I stopped by the Multi-purpose Room to see the first dress rehearsal for 'The Peace Child'. Mr Rob and the rest of the MP2 team are doing a great job with the costumes, and quality of the singing and acting is going to make this a performance that will stay with these children forever.
