Internet is Ink! Be wise on the web! Be safe - be smart! These are just some of the messages that the Year 6 'Networkers in Action' were sharing with the whole school on Thursday morning. Technology provides us with so many opportunities to communicate and find information, but we need to be sure that we know who we are are communicating with and that the information we are finding is trustworthy. For the past few weeks the Year 6 children and Ms Jocelyn have been creating their own 'aide memoire's to help everyone remember the importance of being responsible citizens, not only when we are with each other at school and at home, but also when we are online. We call this 'digital citizenship'. When we are sitting at a laptop at home, we may type something that could be hurtful or upsetting, but as the person we are writing about is not there, we do not know how they feel when they see it. Also, when we put something online, it stays there. It can be quickly forwarded or copied and can be very hard to remove it, even if what was written was 'only a joke'. Internet is ink!
