Following on from Tuesday's assembly, the excitement was almost tangible today as the children were greeted in the playground by teachers wearing lab coats. As soon as the register was complete, all over the school the science experiments began. In Milepost 3, the Year 6 children were mixing various liquids to see if they would separate and the Year 5s were making games involving magnets. The Year 4s were busy trying to find a way to decide if an egg was boiled or raw and Year 3 were confusing their brains with optical illusions. Milepost 1 was a hive of activity with a whole range of activities including trying to make to an egg float, making a lava lamp, sticking balloons to the cupboards using static electricity and making bubbles. In EYFS, the fun continued and it was great to see mums and dads joining in the activities.
Throughout the day, classes buddied up and shared what they had been learning; the Year 4 children, for example, helped the children in F3 to learn about the colours of the rainbow and make rainbow buns.
The children have had great fun learning about science. Below there are 4 slideshows one for each milepost and EYFS, and beneath the slideshow is a 'Photolink' to where you can select and download the photos.
