The tour guides told us all about the history of the village and how it was started in the 16th century by the Cham people, who taught the Vietnamese how to farm. We also learnt about the way of life; how only natural fertilisers are used and about the families who have lived in the village for hundreds of years.
Then it was time to get our hands dirty as we carried out the 5 stages of farming used by the locals; preparing the ground, fertilising with seaweed, raking the soil, planting the seeds and then watering. Everybody had a go at all the activities and agreed that it was hard work being a farmer!
Lunch was a bit different today as the children had to cook their own Ban Xeo. Oil in the pan - pork and prawns - pancake mixture - beansprouts - cover with a lid - done!
We now have an hour's break to tidy rooms, write journals and prepare for 'The Scavenger Hunt'.
Wow, that looks hard work!
