The International Primary Curriculum (the IPC) is such a good way to teach all the non-core subjects in an international primary school. Through exciting topics we cover all the history, geography, art and design technology elements of the English National Curriculum.
As we come to the end of the first half term, many of the topics that children have been studying are also coming to an end. At this point in the IPC there is an 'exit point'. The purpose of the 'exit point' is to focus the children's minds on what they have been learning and round off the topic with an event of some sort.
The playground was full of rockets lasting off this morning, as the Year 5s completed their topic on 'Space'. In Year 6 parents were invited in, to join the children as they tried to put into practice what they had learnt about the brain, through a number of challenges, largely revolving around memory. I joined the Year 4s as they went on an adventure in District 1. Groups were dropped off in different locations then had to find a way to agreed location, stopping off along the way to take a photo. The children were especially delighted when they realised that the meeting point was the Haagen Dazs ice-cream shop!
