Parents' Cheese and Wine

Thursday was a busy day...for parents! During the coffee morning, our Japanese families showed us how to make sushi rolls, then in the evening it was time for a French cultural experience, organised by our own BIS Tu Xuong Parents Group.
About 30 parents and teachers met at 6.00pm at 'the Warehouse' on Le Thanh Ton.  Jean Bernard-Baudron, a French sommelier, introduced us to 4 different French wines; one white, one rose and two red.  As we took our first glass of wine, he explained the process of wine tasting using the 4 Ss; Sight, Smell, Sip, Summarise.  As the evening progressed, we were provided with a selection of French cheeses, cold cuts of meat and bread, and Jean provided the knowledge to match foods and wines, as well as taking us through the regions and background to the selected wines.
It really was a fabulous evening, not just in terms of our wine education, but as an opportunity for our community to socialise and enjoy each other's company.
A special thanks again to our French parents for organising the first, of what we hope will be many, social events.
