Scarecrows, Witches, Moles and Rats!

Today, it was the turn of the children in Mile Post 1 and Mile Post 2 to work with our visiting author Liz Million.  If you have not had an opportunity to visit the corridors by Mile Post and Mile Post 2, you really ought to.  The teachers and teaching assistants have created an amazing backdrop to Book Week.

The themes continued into the work the children did with Liz.
In Mile Post 1, the children have been finding out about 'The Wizard of Oz' by L. Frank Baum; a story in which a young girl named Dorothy is transported to a magical land where she accidentally kills a witch, and has to get the help of a scarecrow, a tin man and a cowardly lion, to avoid being caught by the dead witches sister and find her way home.  Liz was helping the children to draw the characters in the story.
Mile Post 2 children have been discovering the adventures of Mole, Badger, Mister Toad and Ratty from Kenneth Graham's classic story of 'Wind in the Willows'.  The character drawings are certainly going to help the children as they write about the goings on in the story.
Also, today I popped into Year 5 to see the mythological creatures they have been creating using the ideas from Liz's session yesterday.  Have a look at 5X's blog (x5x2013-2014.blogspot.com) to see some more of their amazing creations.
